Sean Edward Landeta (born January 6, 1962) is a former American football punter who competed in both the United States Football League and the National Football League. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the first round of the 1982 NFL Draft. Between 1985 and 2006, Landeta played 22 seasons in the National Football League for five different clubs.

He retired after the 2006 season. According to the members of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, Landeta was selected to the 1980s All-Decade Team as the first punter and to the 1990s All-Decade Team as the second punter throughout his career. Landeta spent almost half of his NFL career with the New York Giants, with whom he earned two Super Bowl title rings in Super Bowl XXI and Super Bowl XXV, respectively. He has also played for the Rams, Buccaneers, Packers, and Eagles, among other organisations. Landeta was the NFL’s leading punter in 1999, with 107 punts.

He also led the league in gross punting in 1994, with a 44.8 average, and in net punting in 1989, with a 37.8 average. In 1990, he was the league’s leading punter, with 24 punts inside the 20-yard line. Prior to his professional football career, he was a four-year starter for Towson University’s football team in 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982. 1980, he was the best punter in the country (NCAA Division II), and he was selected to the First Team All-American team in 1982. (NCAA Division II). In September 2005, Landeta was inducted into the Towson University Hall of Fame, and in November 2006, he was inducted into the NCAA Division II College Football Hall of Fame. Landeta was the only active NFL player to have competed in the United States Football League during the 1980s, punting for the Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars throughout each of the league’s three seasons in the 1980s.
